I went on to study and swim on the women’s swim team at Princeton University from 1993-1997 (captain senior year). At Hershey High School I was on the girl’s swim team (captain senior year) and the girl’s soccer team from 1989-1993.

Shortly after learning the basics, I joined the Hershey Aquatic Club and swam with HAC through high school. I grew up in Hershey, PA and started swimming at age 5 on a “mini” swim team with International Swimming Hall of Fame award winning coach, Rusty Owens. Where did you grow up and what is your personal swimming background? When I am not at work, I love going to the beach and spending time with pets! Lastly, I am an avid yogi I practice and teach yoga whenever I get a free moment outside of the pool. I have been working as a social worker in schools since September 2013. I’m a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor. Prior to this, I was the Aquatics Coordinator at the Waltham Boys and Girls Club as well as the Waterfront Director for Camp Favorite in Brewster, MA for two years. I have been a USA Swimming coach since November 2010 on Karishim and transitioned to Patriot Swim Club in September 2011. How long have you been coaching a USA Swimming club team? I am constantly learning from my swimmers and strive to be the best coach I can be for them. I enjoy that part of my role of coach is also that of learner. I enjoy teaching swimmers the importance of technique over speed and growth/progress over medals. During my high school summers, I lifeguarded and taught swim lessons at Nara Park in Acton, MA.Įverything! Swimming is and should be fun for everyone It is my role to help young swimmers have fun, develop confidence, learn to be teammates, and develop relationships with others through the sport of swimming. How did you first get involved in coaching?Īs a member of the AB swim team, we were encouraged to coach the AB town team. In college at James Madison University, I participated in club swimming and water polo for two years. I transitioned to Patriot Swim Club at 12 years old, and then competed for the AB Swim and Dive team from 2000-2004.
